The Delaware Farm Bureau (DEFB) Annual Convention offers something for members and guests alike! Held December 11–12 at the Modern Maturity Center in Dover, the convention brings together DEFB members, agricultural leaders, and supporters for two days of education, networking, and celebration. As one of the organization’s biggest events of the year, the convention offers plenty of opportunities to get involved. Here are five reasons you won’t want to miss it!
1. See Grassroots Advocacy in Action
Attend the DEFB Annual Meeting of Delegates and see how members help shape the organization’s policies. Whether you’re participating as a delegate or observing as a guest, you’ll get a firsthand look at the grassroots, member-driven approach that guides DEFB’s advocacy efforts.
2. Gain Insights on Today’s Agricultural Challenges
Gain helpful insights into issues affecting today’s farmers through educational sessions covering crop markets, trade, fertilizer prices, agricultural law, and risk management strategies. These sessions will offer information and resources to help farmers navigate agriculture’s challenges and opportunities.
3. Meet the Future of Agriculture
Get a glimpse of the next generation of agricultural leaders through Saturday’s Discussion Meet competition and DEFB Ambassador Program. These events highlight the knowledge, leadership, and passion of young people who are helping shape the future of agriculture.
4. Celebrate Women in Agriculture
Join us for a special Women in Agriculture Reception as we celebrate the contributions and accomplishments of women in agriculture in recognition of the International Year of the Woman Farmer. Attendees will also have the opportunity to meet Lorenda Overman, Vice Chair of the American Farm Bureau Federation Women’s Leadership Committee.
5. Build Connections and Celebrate Agriculture
Connect with fellow members, farmers, agricultural professionals, and supporters who share a passion for Delaware agriculture. The convention offers opportunities to build relationships, exchange ideas, and celebrate our agricultural community’s accomplishments. The weekend will wrap up with the Annual Banquet, where we will recognize outstanding individuals and families through awards such as the Rising Star Award, Distinguished Service to Agriculture Award, and Statewide Farm Family of the Year.
