Delaware Farm Bureau (DEFB) is now accepting applications for the 2027 Summer Internship Program. College students interested in gaining hands-on experience in agriculture while developing their advocacy, communication, and leadership skills are encouraged to apply by November 27, 2026.
The internship program provides students with valuable experience in agricultural communications, member engagement, and community outreach. Interns have the opportunity to work alongside farmers, assist with events, and help share the story of Delaware agriculture while developing skills that will benefit them in their future careers.
“Interning with Delaware Farm Bureau allowed me to grow both personally and professionally while still learning about how agriculture impacts and connects communities throughout our state,” said Dillana Reed, a 2026 DEFB summer intern.
Reed, along with fellow intern Montana Golden, helped launch the initial phases of DEFB’s Healthy Meals, Local Fields campaign. Funded through the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Specialty Crop Block Grant Program and administered by the Delaware Department of Agriculture, the campaign promotes the use and consumption of locally grown specialty crops.
The 2027 summer interns will have the opportunity to continue building on this campaign while gaining experience in a variety of other areas. Responsibilities may include but are not limited to photography, videography, visits to Legislative Hall, agricultural education and outreach activities, and assisting with DEFB events and initiatives.
Interested students can learn more about the program and submit their applications at defb.org/internship-program/ by November 27, 2026.
