The Delaware Farm Bureau (DEFB), in partnership with representatives from Case New Holland, John Deere, and affiliated agricultural equipment dealers, organized a program demonstration for legislators and DEFB members on December 3, 2025. The event was hosted by Hoober, Inc. in Middletown, Delaware.
During the session, teams from Atlantic Tractor and Hoober’s showcased digital repair tools and demonstrated how these tools work on their respective equipment. The goal was to highlight the importance of providing farmers with access to repair solutions so they can keep their operations running when it matters most.
Key Points from the Demonstration:
Commitment to Farmers
Original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) and dealers emphasized their commitment to helping farmers stay productive during critical planting and harvesting windows. They highlighted their dedication to equipping farmers with the tools and resources needed for timely repairs.
“The last thing we want is to prevent a farmer from planting or harvesting during their tight window,” said Bryan Peterman of Atlantic Tractor.
Program Features
OEMs demonstrated how the digital repair program offers more information at no additional cost. For John Deere, this feature is included on utility tractors and larger models, leaving the choice to the customer whether to use it.
Customer Access
Farmers can purchase the same diagnostic tools used by dealers if they prefer to perform repairs themselves. Additionally, a wide range of software and manuals is available for purchase.
Software Protections
Certain OEM software safeguards remain in place to protect customers and ensure equipment integrity.
The event aimed to showcase existing programs that empower farmers to repair their equipment while addressing questions from legislators considering House Bill 176, a right-to-repair measure that DEFB opposes in its current form. Following the demonstration, the bill’s prime sponsor indicated that adjustments to the language would be made.
This initiative underscores a growing commitment across the ag industry to equip farmers with the tools and knowledge they need to keep their operations efficient and resilient.
