The Delaware Farm Bureau (DEFB) is proud to welcome three summer interns, Brielle Carter, Noah Dixon, and Emerson Hickey, who will support DEFB and DEFB Foundation’s mission to promote Delaware agriculture and connect with the community. Each intern brings a unique set of skills and experiences, and DEFB is excited to see the impact they will make over the summer. Their major projects will include enhancing DEFB membership outreach, expanding social media efforts, and organizing educational visits for youth.

Brielle Carter

Brielle Carter, of Harrington, has been deeply involved in agriculture from a young age through 4-H, FFA, and her family’s farm and produce stand. She has shown market lambs, served on the Delaware State Fair Junior Board, and held the title of 2023 Mar-Del Watermelon Queen.

Now a junior at the University of Delaware, Carter is actively engaged on campus. She serves as an Ag Ambassador Tour Guide, president of the Agriculture College Council, vice president of Collegiate 4-H, and is a member of the Soils Judging Team.

Passionate about advocating for agriculture, Carter hopes to make a meaningful contribution this summer and gain valuable experience in marketing and policy. After graduation, she plans to continue supporting Delaware farmers and the agriculture industry.

Noah Dixon

Noah Dixon, from Felton, aims to help bridge the gap between producers and consumers during his internship. While he did not grow up on a production farm, his proximity to agriculture inspired a deep respect for the industry. His passion solidified during his time in FFA, where he also ran a produce stand in high school.

Dixon brings valuable marketing experience from a previous internship with the Delaware Department of Agriculture and his current role at a local hobby farm. He is studying Agriculture at Delaware State University and has learned about education through his time as a Delaware FFA State officer.

Dedicated to making a difference, Dixon looks forward to meeting farmers and sharing their stories. His goal is to positively impact others through service, collaboration, and a strong commitment to agricultural education.

Emerson Hickey

Emerson Hickey, of Middletown, was raised on her family’s dairy farm, where she developed a strong passion for agriculture. Summers spent working on the farm and showing dairy cattle at the Delaware State Fair have fueled her desire to explore more areas within the industry.

A sophomore at the University of Delaware, Hickey is majoring in Human Resources Administration. She hopes to eventually focus on team development and leadership in the workplace. With prior marketing experience through an internship, she’s eager to apply her skills to support DEFB’s mission.

Hickey looks forward to expanding her knowledge of Delaware’s diverse agriculture sectors and working with an organization that values community and youth engagement.

“We’re thrilled to have such a talented and passionate group of interns joining us this summer,” said Mikayla Paul, DEFB Assistant Executive Director and Marketing Coordinator. “Their fresh perspectives and enthusiasm will help us continue growing our outreach and educational efforts across the state.”
