The Delaware Farm Bureau (DEFB) Foundation, in partnership with Seashore Striders, hosted the sixth annual Lace Up for Ag Literacy 5K Run/Walk on Saturday, October 10, 2026, at Hopkins Farm Creamery in Lewes, raising more than $16,000 to support agricultural literacy initiatives throughout Delaware.
More than 150 participants gathered for the event, which started at the newly opened Hopkins Farm Market and took runners and walkers along a scenic course around the farm.

“As an avid runner, and member of the Delaware Farm Bureau, this event combines two of my passions and helps to support a bigger cause to grow agricultural literacy in our state,” said Maci Dickerson of Seaford. “Racing through the beautiful farm is definitely a highlight,” she added.
The 5K was held in conjunction with Hopkins Farm Fest, giving participants and their families the opportunity to enjoy a variety of fall activities following the race. The festival featured hayrides, a petting zoo, and other family-friendly activities. Runners and walkers also had the opportunity to enjoy a scoop of Hopkins Farm Creamery’s ice cream after crossing the finish line.
Proceeds from the event benefit the DEFB Foundation’s agricultural literacy initiatives, which connect students and consumers with agriculture through hands-on learning experiences, educational resources, and outreach programs across the state.
