Supporting the future of agriculture is a top priority for Delaware Farm Bureau (DEFB). In alignment with this priority, DEFB invested in over 20 young exhibitors during the Junior Livestock Auction held on July 30, 2026, at the Delaware State Fair.
The Delaware 4-H Foundation hosts the Junior Livestock Auction featuring the top placing animals in the beef, goat, lamb, and swine departments of the Delaware State Fair. The auction brings businesses, organization, and community members from across the state to support youth who have dedicated countless hours and work into preparing their livestock for the show.
Among these supporters are DEFB, Delaware Young Farmers and Ranchers (YF&R), Kent County Farm Bureau (KCFB), New Castle County Farm Bureau (NCCFB), and Sussex County Farm Bureau (SCFB). Together, Farm Bureau was one of the top supporters of the auction.
The auction includes the top three beef cattle and top four hogs, goats, and lambs from each class. Animals are sold to the highest bidder, who may choose to keep the animal or donate it back to 4-H, FFA, or the exhibitor.
Exhibitors in the auction receive more than just financial support. They gain the opportunity to build connections and relationships that can benefit them as they pursue their plans in agriculture. Funds received by the exhibitors are often used to fund higher education, trade school programs, future livestock projects, or other agricultural endeavors.

For Kendall Linton, a DEFB member and junior exhibitor, that support represents an investment in her future.
“I am incredibly grateful for the Delaware Farm Bureau’s support through this year’s Junior Livestock Auction,” said Linton. “Their generosity will help me continue pursuing my education while reminding me how strong and supportive Delaware’s agricultural community truly is.”
By supporting the Junior Livestock Auction, DEFB continues its commitment to ensuring a bright future for Delaware agriculture. For more information on Delaware Farm Bureau, visit defb.org.
