On Sunday, June 21st, I traveled to Providence, Rhode Island for the National Ag in the Classroom Organization (NAITCO) Conference. I had the privilege of attending an all-day meeting on Monday with program leaders from all 50 states, the Virgin Islands, and Puerto Rico. During this meeting, we received a brief introduction to the conference, presented awards, planned for our upcoming meetings, received an update from the executive director and president of NAITCO, and discussed important information regarding the NAITCO Curriculum Matrix.
During the remainder of the week, I learned about new opportunities for engaging students in classrooms, went on tours of local agriculture education programs, and heard from some of New England’s most influential agriculture professionals. I deeply enjoyed having intentional conversations with other program leaders and teachers from across the country to gain new ideas on how we could boost Delaware Ag in the Classroom. The conference was geared towards educators, so I took as many notes as possible to bring back for our teachers and hope to see more Delaware representation at the 2027 NAITCO Convention in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma!
