Runners gathered to help support children’s milk programs in Delaware during the 2026 Milk Run/Walk, held at Ramsey’s Farm in Wilmington. The event was organized by the Delaware Farm Bureau (DEFB) Foundation in partnership with Beast Coast Productions, benefiting the Foundation, Food Bank of Delaware, and the Ministry of Caring.
136 participants registered for the race, which featured 5K, 10K, and Health Walk divisions along scenic courses through Ramsey’s Farm. Top finishers in each category were recognized with signature cowbell awards, among other prizes. Participants also enjoyed a unique photo opportunity with a live dairy cow courtesy of Emerson Farms. The morning concluded with an awards ceremony, a 50/50 raffle, and a silent auction featuring items donated by numerous local businesses.
This year’s event raised over $20,000 to support the DEFB Foundation, the Food Bank of Delaware’s Backpack Program, and the Ministry of Caring’s Milk for Children Fund. Together, these programs help provide nutritious meals to youth in need while also educating them about agriculture, food sources, and healthy choices.
One of the beneficiaries of the race, The Ministry of Caring, provides for those in need in the Wilmington area. Milk is one part of the nutritional meals served to guests of the Emmanuel Dining Room. The Food Bank of Delaware’s Backpack Program allows children in need to take a backpack full of food home at the end of the school week to provide nutrition for the weekend. The backpacks have food such as shelf-stable milk and juice, macaroni and cheese, granola bars, and apple sauce.
The DEFB Foundation strives to increase awareness, understanding, and positivity surrounding Delaware agriculture. Funds raised from this event will benefit the Foundation’s various programs and other initiatives to support this mission.
“We’re so grateful for the Delaware Farm Bureau Foundation’s partnership and support of the Food Bank of Delaware’s Backpack Program,” said Food Bank of Delaware Special Events Manager Jessi Domingeuz. “The Milk Run was a beautiful morning filled with energy and enthusiasm from the crowd, all coming together to support children facing food insecurity across our state. Events like this help ensure kids have nutritious meals and snacks to take home over the weekends, making a meaningful impact for Delaware families.”
